The lynching of monks in Palghar of Maharashtra has outraged the entire nation. What came as more stunning is the brutal incident took place in the presence of police to whom the people of this nation look for safety. But as anticipated, this event was about to be put under carpet unless the video of monks getting lynched started surfacing on social media. Even after that, this incident received very less attention among media club than what it actually merits. There is only a handful of media groups discussing this issue with the utmost attention and Arnab Goswami and his Republic media network is among them. But this went unwell with a section of media and political ecosystems. However, this ecosystem while showing aggressiveness against Arnab missed the fact that when you speak the truth, it can be diverted for some time but can’t be quelled for long. It can be well understood that this truth which Arnab tried to show was very painful for few who work selectively to sharp their certain agenda.
In the past few years, we have had noticed media proactively talking on the issues associated to lynchings. But be it the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari or the lynching of monks in Palghar, this outrage and proactiveness remain very low. Soon after Arnab Goswami dared Sonia Gandhi and Congress to speak on the lynching of monks, the entire Congress machinery got furious and reacted with aggressiveness leading to attempts of physical assaults against him. We need to understand that there can be a debate on the style of journalism which Arnab follows but he has managed to redefine the journalism practised in India. When someone challenges age-old incorrect definition, it always brings severe opposition and Arnab has done something similar to Congress ideology ecosystems and the media associated with the identical ideas. No one can deny this fact, had anyone from the minority section would have faced similar lynchings, the whole media and Congress, left ecosystem would have raised their voices at a high pitch. Political tourisms to show solidarity with the victims would have started followed with long hours of debates on media channels questioning the secular fabric of India. But none of these can be seen today because the victim’s religion doesn’t add any political or propaganda value. If Arnab Goswami during his debate questions the same selectivity and cherry-picking of incidents associated with lynchings, then he is surely doing nothing wrong. Congress is the oldest political entity of India and they are expected to understand the roots of India much better but today their complete silence, when the monks who are our cultural roots of Bharat are being lynched by a mob, are bound to attract outrage and questions against them. A specific section in the media believes that media should not express aggressiveness in questioning unless the victim is from the minority section but Arnab’s style of journalism is challenging this belief system in media. Arnab with his journalism is representing the idea of “Nation First” which is not just limited to the boundaries of modern national identity, it also entails honouring the cultural roots of India which has been demeaned for long by our left ecosystems. The journalism of Arnab is a step towards preserving the ethos of Bharat which is under threat since decades.
The lynchings of Palghar is an attack on the soul of Bharat but selective silence of a political class and media is astonishing and Arnab style of journalism dares to contest them. Today Arnab and his journalism exemplify the same outrage which people in our nation have in them against the selective media coverage or political uproar. What Arnab said about Sonia Gandhi or Congress is not factually incorrect if one looks at it with facts. This should not rattle any political group because asking questions and even harsh questions fall under the rights of free press. Free press can never come with terms and conditions applied and Arnab operates under the same theme.
The whole selective ecosystem thought of continuing their selective actions without any questions being posed to them but the episode of Arnab has given them a big blow.
I hope the nation remember few from political club to media abusing the elected prime minister with several derogatory names whenever cases of crimes against minorities appear but they all stay silent on the crimes against the majority population. Arnab has given the taste of similar medicine to the selective ecosystems which they often give to others. Arnab act was not even near to what they often do but yet it has shooked the entire selective political, social and media ecosystem.
