DR. HIMANTA BISWA SARMA: Commander in Chief against COVID-19.

There are many instances when we look at people emerging as leaders. But the best leadership aspects are discovered only at the time of crisis. These days the whole nation is battling against the severe threat of coronavirus and there are efforts to curb the influence of this virus. These efforts can work well if there is someone who could direct the right way of putting this effort and fortunately in Assam, the state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading this example.

Not many days have passed when several people in the state had doubted the capability of Assam in dealing with coronavirus. There was dismay among these segment of people about how Assam will deal with the outbreak of corona. But today the situation on the ground is much different from their speculations. Assam now not only has managed to keep itself away from the ambit of this virus but today Assam is well prepared with efficient infrastructure to deal with the virus in case it surfaces in Assam.

All thanks to the relentless work done by Himanta Biswa Sarma at ground level. Today, several stadiums in Guwahati and around cities have been transformed into isolation centres equipped with all basic amenities.

Even though Assam till now has not reported any positive case of COVID-19, yet the state today have 4 testing centres which are better than many other states. Understanding the sincerity of this issue, Himanta Biswa Sarma directed GMCH to act as a hospital for COVID-19 patients. The fascinating fact is that all these actions have been performed and accomplished within record time and at war level. The same people who earlier were in doubt are now confused that why the government is proactively acting even though there are no cases of COVID-19 in Assam. But this is an example of how a true leader and administrator work. A true administrator and leader don't wait for any uncertainty to occur. For them, the action begins before time to combat any uncertainty.

Himanta Biswa Sarma may not be a perfect man as no man is perfect but he is a man who keeps his ears on the ground to understand the requirements of people.

But a true leader is also someone who doesn't believe in monopoly. A true leader believes in democracy and teamwork. Himanta Biswa Sarma is a leader who doesn't care for the status, he cares for the teamwork which India right now need at the time of crisis.

That's the reason when a state journalist attempted to place him superior in his team. He countered this way which we need to look at.

Himanta Da( the name widely used by his admirer), has shown a perfect example of leadership along with teamwork. When the team is in crisis, everyone needs to perform and Himanta Biswa Sarma is the precise example.
