Dear Congress Boy Gaurav, Let’s Examine Your Party’s Past Before You Talk Manipur and Northeast.

I don't know whether you remember, but when in 2022, the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out, many countries across the globe came together to call for peace. However, the most ironic part was that even the Taliban government in Afghanistan also appealed for peace and spoke about the Human rights of people facing the wrath of this war.

Something similar is happening even today in India when opposition parties, notably Congress, have been creating a ruckus in and outside parliament on the issue of Manipur. Congress is training guns at the ruling dispensation for allegedly letting the state of Manipur burn for months. On the 10th of Aug, Gaurav Gogoi, who himself is the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Assam, stood up in parliament to prove that under-Congress rule, Northeast India was in a better state than what it is today under the Modi government. Gaurav Gogoi and the whole Congress today are trying to assemble a perception that had Congress been in power, Manipur would have become a rose garden with peace sprawling everywhere in the Northeastern region.

In a democracy, anyone can raise questions on the safety of Manipur and the Northeastern region but Congress? Really, can they? That is why I say it is like the Taliban appealing for peace in the world. It is like irony dying thousands of deaths when the Congress party and Gaurav Gogoi stand up to speak for the interest of the Northeast. There is no denying the fact that whatever is happening in Manipur is quite alarming, and peace must come back in Manipur soon. It is essential for the national unity and integrity of India.

But as Gaurav Gogoi and his Congress party have decided to speak on Manipur, showing their care for the Northeastern region. Let us get back to the board and see how Congress treated the Northeast since independence.

The much furious and pained Gaurav Gogoi stood up in parliament and told BJP to learn from the leadership of Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He claimed that during the 2008 Kokrajhar riots, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited Kokrajhar to take stock of the situation, so PM Modi should also visit Manipur. But as usual, the Congress leaders again resorted to spreading lies, and this is not the first or even the last time. Manmohan Singh never visited Kokrajhar in 2008 when the area was facing bloody riots that left many people killed and displaced even today. The second set of riots in Kokrajhar took place in 2012, and at that time, the former Prime Minister did visit but only for a few hours. However, it failed to settle the conflict, and the situation remained unchanged for many days.

One must also ask Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi being an Assamese, why he can't see the pain of the people of his state Assam. Why can't he stand up in parliament and say that it was his Congress party and its policies that destroyed the demographics of Assam and Northeast and Kokrajhar riots were the byproduct of the same. To please his political masters sitting in Delhi, why Gaurav Gogoi can't show the same aggression to call out the appeasement policies of Congress that permitted unchecked illegal infiltrations from across the border for decades to continue?

Gaurav Gogoi, who himself hails from the Northeastern region, should show some daring nature to ask his political masters of Congress why in 1962 when China attacked India and made their all way to Tezpur in Assam, the former late President of India Fakruddin Ali Ahmed fled from Tezpur leaving people of Northeast to the hands of Chinese. He was sent to Tezpur to help the people during Cbi Not only this, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, instead of helping the people of Assam and Northeast, announced from New Delhi through a radio message saying, 'My heart goes out to the people of Assam,' where he almost gave up on reclaiming Northeast from the Chinese army.

Let us come back to Manipur. The conflict in Manipur is nothing new. Because of the policies of the Congress party, Manipur demographics have changed so much today, resulting in this bloodstained violence. The unhindered infiltration and movement of missionaries in Manipur have altered the true character of the state. In 1951, there was only a 12% Christian population in the state, and today it is a whopping 43%. Almost in all hill areas, they are the predominant force.

Manipur has witnessed sectarian clashes in 1990, 1993 and later in 1993, where almost 1,100 people were killed in the clashes in Manipur. But the then Prime Minister, President or any other leader of the Congress was not seen before the people of Manipur. In all these years, the Congress party and its alliance ruled the nation but Manipur kept on burning.

It is also bizarre that Gaurav Gogoi and the Congress party speak of providing a therapeutic hand to Manipur and its people. However, very few know that the Congress party and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi instructed Indian Air Force to bomb several cities of Mizoram on 5 March 1996. Instead of carrying peace talks with Mizo rebels, Congress chose to bomb their own cities and people, killing many. Can Congress party and Gaurav Gogoi still show the audacity to talk about caring for the Northeastern region?

If this is not enough to question the credibility of Congress, let me share one more fact to open the eyes of Gaurav Gogoi, at least as he belongs to the Northeast. In 187, Rajiv Gandhi ordered Operation Bluebird in Manipur to deal with insurgents of NSCM. Thousands of people were tortured, killed, and even raped during this period. Many pregnant women were beaten and forced to give birth to their children in front of officers. After doing all this, the Congress party should hold its head with shame.

In 1979, when the Assam agitation began because of the Congress policy of giving free passes to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, the Congress leadership initially ignored the issue resulting in the formation of the United Liberation Front of Assam. This militant outfit took arms to fight the Indian state and achieve succession from India. This changed Assam forever, and the wave of militancy and instability kept looming in Assam for decades. There is no shred of doubt that Congress ignored the concerns of the Northeast and this is the root cause behind every problem that Northeast India is facing today.

Similarly, the creation of states in the Northeast during the Congress regime was done with no groundwork resulting in border disputes between the states that continues even till today. But who will ask these questions to Congress leadership? We can only hope Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi will show some spine in exposing his own Congress party because first, he is an Indian from the Northeast who has seen those decades of darkness under Congress rule. But if he chooses to remain mum and try to weave a different narrative, he is showing his loyalty to a family in Delhi but not justice to the people of the Northeast.
