The significance of Ayodhya and Lord Rama should have been about our cultural heritage to which everyone is a part of. Still, for long an influential lobby tried hard to make it an issue between Hindus and Muslims. This was very well articulated by ex-ASI Regional Director KK Muhammed who in one of his autobiography revealed that after the excavations of 2003 when evidence of temple was discovered in Ayodhya, the Muslim group was ready to give the site to Hindus but left historians presented twisted shreds of evidence to Muslim party and kept the matter alive.

In other words, the left historians backed by a political
class tried to build a narrative that it is Hindus by fighting for Ayodhya are
trying to corner Muslims, but this was never the case. The issue was about
reclaiming one of India's most significant cultural sites, which symbolizes our
great ancient civilization. Even nations like Indonesia, which is the largest
Muslim nation,
trace their ancestry to Rama. In South Korea, the
princess of Ayodhya named Heo Hwang-ok, also known as Suriratna, went all
the way to Korea some 2000 years ago to marry King Suro of Geumgwan Gaya. We
hardly encounter any of this cultural history of India in our textbooks. Still,
all we are taught by our left historians is that Rama is a myth, and Ayodhya
issue is an issue of religious conflicts between Hindus and Muslims of India.
